How to disable XML-RPC in WordPress?

XML-RPC is a method that allows third party apps to communicate with your WordPress site remotely. It uses HTTP as the transport mechanism and XML as encoding mechanism which allows for a wide range of data to be transmitted. This could cause security issues and can be exploited by hackers. Hence to stop this, a simply line of code can be added to your functions file to turn off XML-RPC in WordPress:

add_filter(‘xmlrpc_enabled’, ‘__return_false’);
